About TintScout
TintScout helps drivers and homeowners find a window tinting shop, compare them by real Google ratings, and call direct, without wading through ads.
What we do
We maintain a directory of window tinting businesses across the United States: auto tint specialists, ceramic film installers, and residential or commercial window film providers. Today it covers 20,348 shops in 3,932 cities across 49 states, and it grows as we verify more listings.
How we build the listings
We compile candidate businesses from public business data, then check each one to confirm it genuinely offers window tinting rather than auto glass, window cleaning, or unrelated services. Only listings that pass that check are published. Each shop carries its real Google rating and review count, pulled from its public Google Business profile. How we check what we publish
Every number on this site traces to something you can verify. Star ratings show the review count they are based on. City and state counts are computed from the dataset at build time, never typed by hand. Cost figures in our guides are ranges, clearly labeled as such, because tint pricing depends on the film, the vehicle, and the shop.
When our data is thin, we say so instead of padding. A town with one verified shop gets a short page that says exactly that, and we keep near-empty pages out of search engines rather than dress them up.
Our listing standards
Every listing on TintScout follows the same rules:
- The business must offer window tinting. If we cannot confirm that, it stays out.
- It must have a phone number, so you can actually reach them.
- Ratings are shown as Google publishes them, with the review count, or not at all. We never write, edit, or invent a rating.
- Shops are ordered by rating and review volume. No one can pay for placement.
Who runs TintScout
TintScout is built and maintained by the TintScout editorial team, a small group that compiles the directory, verifies that each listing genuinely offers window tinting, and keeps the cost and tint-law guides current. Ratings and review counts are pulled directly from each shop public Google Business profile, never written or edited by us, so the numbers you see match Google Maps. If a listing looks wrong, you can tell us and we will check it.
The legal tint limits
Every state sets its own limit on how dark your windows can be, measured as VLT (the percent of light the film lets through). We list those limits on each state page so you can pick a shop and stay legal. Laws change, so we always tell you to confirm with your state DMV or the shop before installing.
What we are not
We are not a booking platform and we do not take payments or commissions. We are not affiliated with the businesses listed. When you find a shop you like, you contact them directly. Listing details come from public sources and may be out of date, so always confirm services and pricing with the shop.
